Jochen Maas

Function at HeartBeat.bio: Member of the Supervisory Board

Until his retirement in summer 2023, Jochen Maas worked in research and development at Sanofi and its predecessor organizations for more than 30 years, most recently as General Manager, Research & Development (R&D) at Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbH. He was Vice President R&D Europe, member of the Global R&D Management Board and responsible for global R&D in the Diabetes division. Jochen Maas was appointed Head of the German R&D-Hub which comprises 1,500 scientists focusing on diabetes and immunology research and several global platform activities in the fields of chemistry, biologicals, toxicology, screening, pharmacokinetics and CMC.

Jochen Maas holds a professorship at the University of Applied Sciences Giessen and gives lectures in pharmacokinetics and drug delivery systems. He is Vice President of the House of Pharma & Healthcare in Frankfurt/Main and an active member of numerous scientific committees and consortia.

From his background, Jochen Maas is a biologist and veterinarian by training and has a doctorate in veterinary medicine including a specification in Radiology. He studied at the Universities of Zurich, Heidelberg and Munich.
